As you can tell by day 3 of her death, she has started to decompose and also started to turn black in her torso area. I noticed she didn't have a smell to her, like most dead animals, insects, etc. would. It was kind of interesting how she didn't stink, and I expected her to. But my theory of her stinking was wrong and she had no odor. 

Death

Katy died last Tuesday. It was a sad and tragic death, yet she died dramatically. R.I.P (Rest In Peace) Katy the Katydid. September 10th, 2014 - October 7th, 2014. (The day I caught her - the day Katy died) 

The Hatching Process

With this link you should be able to watch the way the Katydid comes out, squeezing it's soft delicate body through the hard shell.  As it wiggles and squirms out. Once the body is fully out it is able to open and extend it's legs out of the cramped space, making it look bigger than it does without it's legs.
